Move aims at providing innovative solutions for parking management.
Transport regulators in Abu Dhabi have announced that 40 unused bus stops in the Capital have been converted into taxi stands.
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) said on Monday that the move aims at providing innovative solutions for parking management in Abu Dhabi.
"This step aims to optimise the use of parking spaces and regulate them to increase the level of satisfaction among taxi users by decreasing random parking and making it easier to hire taxis," the ITC said in a statement.
"Those bus stops were no longer being used as some of the buses were rerouted."
Authorities said last year that there are 4,000 bus stops across the emirate, with 2,000 in the Capital city alone.
