
A protest in Israel against Benjamin Netanyahu's planned judicial overhaul disrupted flights from the UAE to Tel Aviv. Some flights that took off from the UAE had to return and some were delayed.
Etihad flight EY593 from Abu Dhabi to Tel Aviv on March 27 has returned to Abu Dhabi due to unplanned industrial action at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv. As a result, Etihad Airways flights EY593 between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv (TLV) and EY594 between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi will be canceled on March 27," an Etihad Airways spokesperson told Khaleej Times.
Earlier on Monday, Ben Gurion airport, the largest airport in Israel, halted all takeoffs but later resumed them. Israel's Airports Authority announced the suspension of flights following the strike, affecting tens of thousands of passengers.
Israelis have protested against Netanyahu's plan for weeks, and the country's largest union called a strike.
The safety and well-being of our guests and crew are always Etihad's top priorities. Etihad said in its statement that it would continue to monitor the situation closely and that additional capacity would be provided to and from Tel Aviv on March 28.
"We apologize for any inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond our control. Our staff are doing all they can to assist our guests,” it said.
Due to the situation at Ben Gurion International Airport, two flydubai flights have been delayed from Tel Aviv to Dubai.
“We are monitoring the situation and will provide further updates if required. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our passengers' travel schedule,” FlyDubai said.
