According to authorities, 153 employers were fined up to Dh50,000 after their domestic workers worked for others.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) also blocked the files of these employers. The illegal practices were recorded during the authorities' UAE-wide inspections over the past two months.

Mohre warned employers against hiring illegal domestic workers or those who work for others without settling their status.

According to the ministry, this is an explicit violation of legislation and poses health and social risks to employers and their families.

The employers involved in these practices are now facing administrative penalties. In addition, they will not be able to apply for new domestic worker permits, and their case will be referred to the Public Prosecution, which can impose fines of up to Dh50,000.

A federal decree law issued in 2022 prohibits domestic workers from working without permits. They also cannot take up other jobs without complying with certain conditions and settling their status. The same measures will also be taken against the companies that employ them.

Employers are urged to deal exclusively with licensed domestic worker recruitment agencies listed on the ministry's official website and social media pages.

It is under the ministry's supervision that these agencies operate, which ensures excellent services for employers, including Emiratis and residents."
