
On Eid day, a tragic incident occurred in Kashmir's Gilgit Baltistan when a drunk Pakistani army major ran over six children with his car. As per reports from local media, three children died on the spot while the remaining three were rushed to the hospital. The incident occurred in Barah Bala village when the children were celebrating Eid Al Fitr on the road. According to the locals, the children were hit by a Skardu-bound Toyota Land Cruiser while they were returning from a nearby shop.
The in-charge of Ghanche district's Rescue 1122, Ashiq Hussain, informed Dawn that the incident was caused by the out-of-control vehicle of the Pakistan Army major who was driving under the influence of alcohol. After the incident, the major was surrounded by locals who tried to make a video.
Usman Tariq Chughtai, a resident of the area, stated that "The speeding vehicle of a Pakistan Army major ran over six children in the Ghanche district of Gilgit-Baltistan. Three children died on the spot and three were injured."
Waheeda Kashmiri expressed her sorrow and condolences for the families of the deceased children, saying, "Shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic incident in the Ghanche district of GB on Eid day. My heart goes out to the families of children who lost their lives."
