An Emirati woman who claimed to be a leading expert in stem cell treatment has had her medical licence suspended.
Dubai Health Authority said it took the decision while her qualifications are verified.
The move followed her appearance on several local television programmes in which she spoke about the future of medicine and medical techniques.
When social media users criticised her for what was claimed to be unconvincing performances, she made public her medical degree from the Central American Health Institute in Belize - a two-year physician's qualification.
Some commentators highlighted that the college is not recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education.
In a statement on Twitter, DHA said her licence to practise would remain suspended until her qualifications had been validated.
The move is the latest in a series of actions by the health authority into alleged malpractice.
Earlier this year, it ordered First Med Day Surgery Centre to halt surgeries after an Emirati woman was left in a coma followed a botched surgery. The investigation is ongoing.
