An Emirates flight originating from Dubai experienced a delay on the apron at a UK airport due to a hoax email received by authorities.
A representative from the airline confirmed to Khaleej Times that Flight EK019, which touched down in Manchester on October 17, underwent 'additional security inspections' after landing.
Local media reported that the Greater Manchester Police received an email alerting them to a suspected package on board, which ultimately proved to be false.
According to The Guardian, Manchester Airport temporarily closed its airfield while authorities investigated the email. The police clarified that no suspicious items were discovered, and no arrests were made during the security checks. Normal airport operations resumed shortly after the aircraft was given the all-clear.
The airline spokesperson stated, 'Emirates' crew and ground teams fully cooperated with the authorities. Once local authorities had cleared the aircraft, it proceeded to the gate, and passengers disembarked as per standard procedures.
