Dubai Customs' Intelligence Department has intercepted a major drug smuggling attempt via air cargo. They successfully prevented the trafficking of 200,000 restricted narcotics and pills valued at approximately Dh6.2 million.

Dubai Customs' overarching strategy to safeguard the community against security threats is made up of this operation, which contributes significantly to maintaining the UAE's reputation as a secure and stable environment, one of the key factors that make the UAE a desirable investment destination.

A specialised team at the Dubai Customs Intelligence Department became suspicious of two shipments arriving from an Asian country, which triggered the operation. Their diligent inspection revealed that the first shipment, comprising 20 parcels, contained concealed narcotics and restricted pharmaceuticals weighing in at a hefty 460kg, with an estimated market worth of around Dh1 million.

Second shipment consisted of 22 parcels containing 520kg of Tramadol, totaling 175,300 tablets with a market value of approximately Dh5.25 million. Consequently, the seized goods and individuals involved were handed over to the Dubai Police's General Directorate of Anti-Narcotics, following stringent legal procedures and protocols.
