Etisalat customers will be given a unique opportunity to register as a volunteer at Expo 2020 as part of an awareness campaign spearheaded by the telecoms provider.

As an official partner of the Expo 2020 Volunteers programme, Etisalat said it will launch a campaign to encourage millions of its customers to get involved in the largest event ever held in the Arab world. Further details of the campaign have not been revealed.

At least 30,000 volunteers will take on roles such as welcoming guests and guiding visitors around the Expo site in the lead up to and during Expo 2020 Dubai.Running from October 2020 to April 2021, the volunteers – some of whom have already started their roles – will dedicate more than 16 million volunteering hours spread across 173 days.

Open to all adult UAE residents including university students, graduates and people with disabilities, the volunteers will be tasked with welcoming the world to Dubai's doorstep.

"We look forward to working with Etisalat to connect with the volunteers who will play a crucial role in ensuring that Expo 2020 Dubai is the World’s Greatest Show,” Abeer Al Hosani, director, Expo 2020 Volunteers, said.

“We have created meaningful roles that will lead to work-ready skills, as well as an exceptional experience that will remain with volunteers for life," she said.

Through an earlier partnership with Etisalat, Expo 2020 Dubai became the first major 5G commercial customer in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region. Etisalat's network will provide the most advanced digital and telecom services to Expo 2020 Dubai and its millions of visitors.
