
A birth certificate can now be obtained via Whatsapp, according to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP). It has now become possible for UAE residents to apply via WhatsApp for a birth certificate for their newborn children provided that they are born in public hospitals that are operated by MOHAP.
In an announcement made on November 18, MOHAP announced that parents can use its dedicated WhatsApp number: +97142301221, to obtain a birth certificate.

Documents Required to Issue a Birth Certificate via WhatsApp in UAE:
In order to register for the birth of their child with the hospital, parents in the UAE must submit the following documents.
1. Attested marriage certificate.
2. Both parents' passports and Emirates ID copies.
3. Contact details such as an email address and a phone number.
4. Qaid Number of the Newborn: Once your child has been born, you will receive a Qaid number, which is the birth notification number you'll receive in the UAE. Qaid number can be found on the electronic birth notification provided by the hospital.
Upon obtaining a Qaid number, you can then apply online or via Whatsapp for your birth certificate.
Process for issuing a birth certificate via WhatsApp in UAE:
-Ensure that you have MOHAP's contact number +971 42301221 in your Whatsapp contact list in case you need to apply for a birth certificate through the app.
-Then type in 'Hello' to initiate a conversation.
-Then you will be asked to choose between two options:

-Click on the 'Birth Certificate' option and follow the steps:
Step 1: Register your email address with MOHAP
In the first step, MOHAP will send you a message with a link directing you to their website - ebirthdeath.mohap.gov.ae. You can log in either through your existing MOHAP account or with UAE Pass. Those without an online account with MOHAP can create one by entering their full name, mobile number, email address, and Emirates ID number.
Upon successfully logging in, return to Whatsapp and send your email address there. MOHAP will confirm that your email address has been registered.
Step 2: Verify by entering your OTP (One Time Password)
After that, you will be prompted to enter an OTP for authentication. The OTP will be sent to your registered email address.
In order for the system to verify your child's details, you will also be asked to enter his or her full name and date of birth.
Step 3: Choose a delivery method and pay
Following confirmation of the child's birth details, you will then be asked to pay the birth certificate fee, via a link to the website.
Cost of issuing a birth certificate using WhatsApp in the UAE:
Birth certificates must have an Arabic copy, according to MOHAP. English copies are also available upon request.
For Arabic birth certificate: AED 65
For English birth certificate: AED 65 (if requested)
When you have paid the fee, you will have the option of choosing your delivery method - either courier delivery or picking it up at a MOHAP public health center.
Choosing a courier service will require you to provide your home address, and an additional fee of AED 20 to AED 25 will apply.
The birth certificate should arrive within two working days, according to the MOHAP website.
