Emirates ID is a legal requirement for UAE citizens and residents and must be carried at all times. Those applying for their Emirates ID for the first time or renewing them, can speed up the process and receive the card within an hour, instead of waiting two or three days.
The following are details about the Emirates ID issuance process at ICP.
1. Start the application
Applicants must fill out the Emirates application through one of the four channels available.
There are four ways to apply for an Emirates ID. You can visit any of the following platforms:
1. The ICP Customer Happiness Center
2. Through the registered typing centre
3. Through ‘UAE ICP’ app. Download the app: Android IOS
4. By visiting ICP website
Once the applicant has applied for the Emirates ID, they will check whether their biometrics are registered. The biometrics need to be registered if they are not available in the system."
To complete this process, applicants must visit an ICP center for now, although they will soon be able to provide these biometric details through the 'UAE ICP' app.

2. Verification and security check
After you have completed your biometric registration, it will check if your passport or residency is valid. Following confirmation of residency, the application will proceed to the next stage of determining security concerns with the biometric information. The entire system is fully automated, utilizing artificial intelligence.
3. Emirates ID is printed and delivered
As soon as the security checks have been completed and the application has been approved, Emirates IDs will be printed.
When you need the Emirates ID urgently, you can get it within one hour from registration centers or you can receive it through courier within two days.
Emirates ID fast-track service costs
In order to speed up the process, applicants must pay an additional fee of approximately AED 150 to get their Emirates ID within an hour.
