As an employee in the UAE, you have likely thought about how you can sponsor your parents in the UAE if they live in your home country. This is because you want them to stay with you. Is there a salary requirement for sponsoring your parents in the United Arab Emirates? Surely you have asked yourself these questions. Does the required salary amount vary with your combined income (husband and wife) if you are married? What steps should you take if you do not meet the salary requirement but would like to make a humanitarian request for your parents in your home country since they are aging and live all alone there? 

According to your questions, we assume that the person resides in the emirate of Dubai. To sponsor his or her parents in the UAE, an individual will need a monthly salary of Dh20,000 and a two-bedroom apartment.

Your parents should be eligible to obtain a visa through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (the GDRFA) if the salary you receive is Dh20,000.

It is important to note, however, that your combined salaries with your spouse are not considered, which means either one of you must earn at least Dh20,000 per month.

If you are the sole provider for your parents and your salaries are below Dh20,000 per month, then also you may apply to GDRFA to sponsor them to come to the UAE. You may be required to provide proof that your parents are dependent on you due to their age and inability to work.
