In the last year, the Consulate General of India in Dubai issued 207,400 passports for Indian expats, despite its passport section working six days a week, with Sundays reserved for emergency situations.
According to Dr Aman Puri, Consul General of India in Dubai, the figure was part of the consulate's achievements in the past year. Moreover, the event marked the second anniversary of the mission's decision to keep its doors open round-the-clock to serve the 3 million-strong Indian diaspora.
It is a challenge to keep a consulate open, staffed, and welcoming 24 hours a day. Our officers and dedicated team have enabled us to accomplish this," Dr Puri said.
Consul (Press, Information, Labor & Culture) Tadu Mamu said passport renewals for Indian expats have become "faster and easier." About 1,000 passports are issued daily by the Passport Section, so you can imagine how fast renewals go.
In the last one year, the consulate issued 207,400 passports, of which 24,384 were issued on weekends. We are now delivering passport services in a fast and transparent manner."
A total of 121,075 attestation services were provided by the consulate last year, out of which 11,078 were conducted at the Indian Association in northern emirates on weekends. On weekends, consular officers provide consular services to various locations in northern emirates.
