
PM lauds the patience and discipline of citizens in making the lockdown a success.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the extension of lockdown until May 3, 2020 - to stop the spread of coronavirus Covid-19.
Modi made the announcement in a televised address on Tuesday morning, adding that the decision was taken after consultation with all states.
PM said the lockdown has proved to be effective in containment of Covid-19, lauding the patience and discipline observed by citizens in making the lockdown successful.
"The country has been successful in containing the spread of infection."
7-point agenda to beat Covid-19
In an appeal to citizens, Modi listed his seven point plan to beat the virus:
- Care for the elderly
- Adhering to 'social distancing' (using face masks)
- Increase/boost your immunity
- Download mobile app for Covid-19 help
- Help the poor and the needy
- Be patient and accommodate your employees (don't terminate them)
- Help and respect workers and professionals on the front line in the fight against Covid-19
