Air Canada's flight from Toronto to Dubai was delayed nearly six hours when a passenger fell 20 feet to the ground after opening his cabin door.
Last Monday, authorities in Canada responded to a report of a man falling out onto the tarmac after opening an aircraft door.
The individual sustained minor injuries in the fall and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigation revealed that the man was in a "state of crisis" during the incident, leading to his subsequent apprehension by the police.
The spokesperson for Toronto Pearson International Airport stated that airport authorities were informed of the incident on Monday evening and worked closely with the airline to "support and determine the immediate needs."
Despite not immediately responding to media requests, Air Canada informed Global News Canada that the incident occurred as the Boeing 777 was preparing to take off at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The passenger had boarded the flight (AC056) normally but deviated from his path, heading to the opposite side of the aircraft to open a cabin door. According to Air Canada's statement to Global News, emergency services and authorities responded immediately to the scene.
