It is mandatory for all passengers travelling into or out of the UAE with more than Dh60,000, or an equivalent amount in any other currency, financial assets, precious metals or stones, to declare it to a customs officer.

UAE's Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security has reminded travellers to adhere to customs procedures as prescribed by the customs law to ensure safety.

In a statement, the authority reiterated that there is no cash limit for passengers traveling to or from the UAE, but any amount exceeding Dh60,000 must be declared.

When travelling into and out of the UAE, family members over 18 years of age may carry an amount not exceeding Dh60,000 or its equivalent in foreign currency without disclosing it to customs.

Cash exceeding the aforementioned limit must be disclosed through the 'Afsah' system or other systems approved at the country's border crossing points.

In addition, cash or other valuable items carried by passengers under 18 years of age, including children and adolescents, will be added to the set limit of their parents or accompanying adults.

A smart mobile application and the ICA website have been launched for revealing cash, other financial instruments, precious metals, and stones online. In a few minutes, travelers can complete the disclosure process and register their data from anywhere in just a few minutes before and during their trip. Providing a safe and comfortable journey to and from the UAE is the purpose of the move.
