In Sharjah, police have arrested a cabbie who tried to molest two girls. The passengers, aged 13 and 15, were travelling without their parents when the incident happened.

According to the father of one of the victims, his 13-year-old daughter and her friend were returning home when the Asian taxi driver attempted to grope them.

In "record time", the police tracked down the taxi and arrested the accused. He has confessed to the crime, the cops said.

Sharjah Police said the girls' parents knew that they were traveling without adult supervision and asked guardians to ensure their safety. Children's protection is a shared responsibility, they said.
