As part of their investigations into the suicide-murder case that occurred on Tuesday (March 28), Sharjah Police released the preliminary autopsy report on Thursday. A 35-year-old Indian man jumped off a residential building in Sharjah and confessed in a letter that he killed his wife and children before taking his life.
A forensic investigation showed that the husband poisoned the wife, while strangulation marks were found on his daughters' necks, ages 3 and 7. There were no signs of violence or resistance on the bodies of the wife and children.
The Sharjah Police Commander-in-Chief, Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, said the initial investigation confirmed that the man lived in Sharjah but worked in another emirate. Additionally, the man had no motives or financial difficulties to jump from the 10th floor of an apartment.
Authorities are investigating the motive behind the suicidal husband's shocking crime. The Buhaira Comprehensive Police Station summoned a friend of the wife for questioning and taking her statement.
According to Al Zari, the Central Operations Room received a report of a fall from one of the towers in the Al Majaz area at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Authorities initially believed the incident was a case of a tragic fall. Patrols from the Buhaira Police Station and teams from the National Ambulance rushed to the site in an attempt to save the man, but he later succumbed to the injuries he sustained.
"We did not have any data on the person indicating his identity or personality, but after searching him, police found a paper with a note: 'I killed my wife and two daughters while they were inside the apartment.'
The police then obtained permission from the Public Prosecution to search the apartment. The search team broke down the door of the apartment, and the bodies of the wife and two daughters were found."
Once the investigation report is submitted to the Public Prosecution, the bodies of the woman and her daughters will be repatriated. The reason for the crime has not yet been disclosed by the police.
