UAE residents woke up to cloudy weather on Friday. According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), different intensity of rain and thunderstorms are expected in the UAE this weekend due to low pressure in the Arabian Peninsula.
According to the NCM, these weather condition will last until October 20, Saturday.
It rained in many parts of Abu Dhabi last night (Thursday), including Al Ain and the Al Dhafra area. According to reports, scattered clouds will appear across the country till about 6pm today. Strong winds will also be blowing, making the temperature cooler.
The lowest recorded temperature today was 15.3 degrees Celsius at the Jabel Jais Mountains, and this has been the lowest recording this week.
The weather instability that will bring scattered rain and thundershowers will last from Thursday until Saturday, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said in a tweet.
The weather situation is caused by the extension of the surface Red Sea Trough, which combines northeasterly with southeasterly winds loaded with water vapour over the UAE.
NCM on Thursday raised the yellow alert over most of the interior areas covering Owtaid, Mezeira, Madinat Zayed, Bu Humrah, Qasyourah from 1.30pm to 11pm on Thursday due to chances of rain cloud formation. Fresh winds could also cause visibility to drop to 2,000 metres. The yellow alert warns residents to be on the lookout when doing outdoor activities.
Light to moderate rain was recorded in Al Quaa in Al Ain at around 6am on Thursday.
On Friday, the UAE will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies in general while rainclouds may form and bring scattered rains in the UAE. Similar conditions are expected on Saturday as showers may be expected over western and eastern parts of the country.
Visibility may deteriorate on these days in parts of the country where there is cloud activity due to where southeasterly to northeasterly wind with speeds of 20km/hr to 30km/hr, reaching 42km/hr.
Beachgoers are advised to take precautions as the Arabian Gulf will be moderate to rough on Thursday until Saturday while the Oman Sea will be moderate on the same days.
