According to a recent study, the UAE passport is the most powerful document in the world. In the index compiled by consulting firm Nomad Capitalist, the Emirati passport entered the top 10 for the first time this year. It jumped straight to the number one spot from 35th last year.

The index attributes this to several factors, including the freedom to travel afforded by a UAE passport, as well as the country's business-friendly environment and enviable tax system.

The Nomad Capitalist Passport Index highlights the best citizenships in 199 countries. “Our ratings are based not only on visa-free travel, but also on international taxation laws, global perception, dual citizenship, and personal freedom,” the company said.

Based on the above factors, the Emirati passport ranking received a total score of 110.5. The number of countries an Emirati passport holder can visit won't tell you the whole story, as you will need to deal with far different requirements when travelling, paying tax, living freely, following regulations, and avoiding scrutiny.
