Two youths who followed and harassed a woman at a mall in an Abu Dhabi parking lot have been sentenced to one month in jail and Dh10,000 fine each on Wednesday.

The Abu Dhabi court also ruled that they pay for all court proceedings and referred the case to a special court which will determine the monetary compensation for the young woman to be paid out, as per Al Bayan report.

In the details, one of the men approached the victim at a shopping centre, asked her about the time, then complimented her.

She ignored him and left the mall, but after getting into her vehicle, the second man came and knocked on her window. She lowered the window and he told her that his friend, who was sitting in his car, wanted to know her. He insisted she take his friend's social media Snapchat account, opening and showing it to her through the front window of her vehicle. 

After 10 days, she reported the incident to the police, who traced the account to the owner and called the man and his friend in for questioning. 

The first suspect denied the incident, claiming he was sitting in the car the entire time. The second suspect confessed to the charge but claimed the woman took the account name of her own free will. 

In response, she stated that she had been too busy with school work.
