
The total number of cases is 59
Dubai: Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) reported 14 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the country to 59.On Saturday, senior officials in the country had announced that only two of the patients detected with COVID-19 in the country are in intensive care.
The officials however stressed that the UAE is well-equipped to deal with any potential outbreak. Several measures have been rolled out as precautionary methods such as a temporary suspension of nursery services, screening and quarantine provisions at points of entry, an early spring break for students and two weeks of remote learning following the break
“But all these measures that have been implemented so far have been to prevent an outbreak, not because an outbreak has occurred,” said Dr Nada Al Marzouqi, head of infection prevention and control at the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP).
The new coronavirus infection, called COVID-19, has now infected over 100,000 people worldwide.
