An Asian driver was rescued from his mangled car after it was involved in a traffic accident in Ras Al Khaimah. According to the police, the driver was injured after the car he was driving crashed into a lamppost on Al Halila Road.

On being alerted about the accident, police patrols, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the accident site.

"The injured driver was stuck in his car. Luckily, there was no petrol leak that could lead to a fire," a civil defence source said. "Special equipment was used to break into the car and rescue the driver."

The paramedics then administered first aid and rushed the driver to the nearest hospital. 
According to the police, the accident took place due to speeding and inattentive driving. "Initial enactment of the mishap showed that the driver suddenly lost control over the steering wheel, following which he rammed into the lamppost."
