The Ras Al Khaimah Charity Foundation has contributed Dh126,700 to 207 alternative imams and those recruited on a temporary basis here in the emirate.

The move is part of the Foundation's annual support to low-income imams leading prayers in locally endowed mosques, according to Mohammed Jakkah Al Mansuri, the foundation's chairman.

"The contribution is an attempt to live and promote the spirit of giving in the holy month, in the Year of Zayed."

The contribution, falling under the money alms schemes of the Foundation, is to be distributed by the general authority of Islamic affairs and endowments, RAK office, he added.

"Up to Dh500 shall be given to temporary imams against Dh1,000 for alternative ones, while 36 workers are to collect Dh700 each."

Ali Rashid Al Khanbuli, director of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, RAK office, said the move reflects the foundation's passion to support all vulnerable segments of the society. "The move will also bring happiness to the beneficiaries in the holy month of Ramadan, before the Eid Al Fitr holiday."
