Police advised motorists to take caution and take alternative routes.
The Sheikh Zayed Tunnel will close until August 31, 2018 for maintenance work, Abu Dhabi Police said. Traffic will be diverted while roadworks are under way.

The closure will begin on Sunday, August 12 and continue until Friday, August 31. Police advised motorists to use alternative routes during those times.

The Department of Transport (DoT)  in Abu Dhabi has partially closed Sultan Bin Khalifa (Sanaeia Roundabout), closing one left lane from the left side of the road.

The department also announced the partial closure of left lane in both direction near Khalifa Park until September1, 2018.

In Dubai, commuters faced long tailbacks on E44 Ras Al Khor and Al Khail Road.

There is also heavy traffic on the roads headed from Al Nahda and heading into Dubai.
