In an effort to enhance road safety and curb distractions, Ras Al Khaimah Police have issued a stern reminder to motorists about the penalties associated with using a mobile phone while driving. This campaign aims to raise awareness about the risks involved in such behavior and emphasizes the importance of adhering to traffic regulations for the safety of all road users.

According to Article 32 of the Traffic Law, engaging in any form of distraction from the road while operating a vehicle, particularly using a mobile phone, can result in a substantial fine of Dh800 and the imposition of four traffic black points. Colonel Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al Bahar, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, underscored the seriousness of this offense.

The Ministry of Interior's Traffic Sector, in collaboration with the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command, has launched a comprehensive traffic awareness campaign under the slogan 'Driving without a phone.' This initiative seeks to educate both the community and road users on the vital importance of following traffic rules without being sidetracked by distractions like mobile phones and their applications while driving.

The primary objective of this campaign is to prevent fatal traffic accidents and safeguard lives and property. Colonel Al Bahar emphasized the need for drivers to refrain from any activities that may divert their attention from the road, such as making phone calls or texting while driving. He stressed that a driver's level of concentration while on the road significantly affects their ability to anticipate and avoid potential hazards and accidents.

In conclusion, Colonel Al Bahar emphasized that the risks associated with using a mobile phone while driving extend beyond endangering one's own life; they also jeopardize the safety of others on the road. To ensure the well-being of all road users and maintain road safety, it is imperative for drivers to remain focused on the task at hand and avoid distractions like mobile phone use.
